This lovely spoon ring will be made from a Gorham Strasbourg Sterling Silver piece.  Gorham introduced this pattern in 1897 until it was discontinued in 1950.  Therefore, you piece at the very least will be 70 years old assuming it was made the last year of manufacturing and could be as old as 123 year.  Marked "Gorham Sterling" This pattern is decorated with an elegant chased swag / scroll design on the outer edge of the handle.  Will made a gorgeous ring.  Measures 3 1/4 inches and can be made into ring sizes 10.5 to 13 or fi you want smaller, however the top would have to be curved to make it longer on the top of the finger.  Your ring will be polished to an exquisite silver shine unless you request it to be aged with patina before polishing.

Gorham Silver was founded in Providence, Rhode Island, 1831 by Jabez Gorham, a master craftsman, in partnership with Henry L. Webster.  During the heyday of American silver manufacturing, approximately 1850 - 1940, Gorham was highly influential.

In 1893, a French observer was surprised by America's "remarkable fertility in the variety of its patterns for table services." Of the flatware patterns designed by F. A. Heller (1839–1904) for Gorham he wrote "we have no idea of the richness of ornamentation of these services, and of the amount of talent expended by him in the engraving of the dies which he has made on the other side of the Atlantic.
